Towards a fur-free State…

You know my commitment to the “fur-free” movement if you read my previous article “No More Fur“.

I wanted to give you an update as I recently read an article on the Human Society of the United States page. It said that Laura Friedman introduced the Assembly Bill 44 to California State Assembly about the prohibition of the sale and manufacture of fur products in California !

I knew that some cities in California already took measures to outlaw the sale of fur. Berkeley and West Hollywood were the first ones, followed by San Francisco in March 2018, and more recently Los Angeles.

But with AB 44, this ban would be state wise, giving California State the status of pioneer in the USA on this matter!

So here’s the things to remember about this bill:

The bill would include (but not limited to) the following items : clothing, hats, shoes, slippers, handbags, earmuffs, scarves, shawls, gloves, jewelry, key chains, toys or trinkets, and home accessories and decor.
Each violation would be considered as a civil penalty.
The bill would prohibit the sale and manufacture of (only) new fur products, meaning that used fur items are exempted from the bill.
The ban would be operative by January 1, 2021

Californians, take action now!

I’m so proud to live in a State where animal welfare is taken seriously.

Yet, AB 44 still needs to get voted…
It was amended again on May 23rd, but in order to ensure the bill’s passage, it’s urgent to take action now.

Who goes already fur-free?

Perhaps you’ve already heard it, but last week, Prada group (Prada, Miu Miu, Church’s and Car Shoe) officially announced the ban of fur products starting with the 2020 Spring Summer women’s collection.

Prada group joins many brands and major fashion houses which are already fur-free, such as Gucci, Versace, Coach, Burberry, Armani, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Mickael Kors, H&M, Asos, Zara, C&A, O’Neill, Geox, Stradivarius…

Last news of the week : Jennifer Aniston officially pledged to not use fur, feathers or exotic skins, as well as Kate Winslet!
